Biographical history
John Tapson-Jones, 1896-1977, was born at Llandaff, Wales and joined the Royal North-West Mounted Police (RNWMP) in 1914. He served in Alberta at Fort Macleod, Coleman, Carmangay, and Champion. He moved to the Alberta Provincial Police (APP) in 1917, then to the Fort Garry Horse for service in the First World War. He re-joined the Mounted Police in 1919 then moved again to the APP in 1922. He was stationed in Lethbridge, Blairmore, and Edmonton. He retired from the Police in 1938 and moved to Salmon Arm, British Columbia. There he was acquainted with the well-known southern Alberta pioneer Phil Weinard.
