Biographical history

John Jeremiah O'Connor, 1887-1947, was born in Orillia, Ontario and moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1909. He studied law at the University of Manitoba and University of Alberta and articled as a lawyer with Clinton J. Ford of Calgary. O'Connor then established his own firm in 1918. He was very active in ranching, oil development, mining in British Columbia and in aviation. He was president of Western Securities Ltd. and was vice-president of Yukon Air Transport Ltd. (later part of Canadian Pacific Airlines). He attended St. Mary's Church and was a member of the Renfrew Club. He and his wife, Sarah May Blackie, 1886-1974, had three children, John B., Julius J. and Sarah Marie "Sally".
