Biographical history
John Hextall, 1861-1914, was born in England and practiced law there. For health reasons he came to Calgary, Alberta about 1907 or 1908 and established Bowness Estates Ltd., to develop a subdivision on the far northwest outskirts of the city. He and his wife, Alice Delphine, 1861-1951, had three children, Leonard John, 1890-1916, Alice Violet (Watt), 1885-1981, and Maud Eleanor (Shaw), 1889-1979.
