Biographical history

John Cody was born in New York City in 1924. During WWII, Cody served with the US Air Corps 505th Bomb Group on Tinian Island where he was the supercharger mechanic on the Enola Gay. Cody died in Florida in 2014.

Archival history

Material sent to donor's husband by John Cody in the 1990's, mailed to AMA in 2020 and transferred to TMMLA in 2021.

Scope and content

Consists of two items of correspondence and five photographs. Subject matter is John Cody's connection with the American 509th Bomb Group especially during it's connection to the Enola Gay and the bombing of Hiroshima in WWII.
