Biographical history

John Clark, Jr., 1862-1929, was born in Scotland. His family moved to Lachute, Quebec ca. 1872, and to western Canada in 1883. He and his father, John Clark, Sr., and brothers, James and Duncan, settled initially on land at the junction of Crowfoot Creek and the Bow River, Alberta. The land was later discovered to be part of the Blackfoot (Siksika) reserve, so the family moved to land north of the reserve boundary, near Cluny. John married Catherine Emily Wills in 1903 and they had one son, J. Roy, 1909- . He imported and bred Clydesdale horses and raised Suffolk sheep. He also served as the local inspector of noxious weeds, and did threshing for his neighbours. After his death Catherine and Roy continued to run the ranch.
