Biographical history
John Oliver Beattie, 1868-1943, was born in Ingersoll, Ontario. He came to Calgary, Alberta in about 1898 and was employed as a sales agent for various firms as well as working in real estate. He was the first Imperial Oil Company agent in the city. He left the city in the late teens but returned for a few years in the early 1930s. He and his wife, Margaret Orr, had two sons, Henry 'Harry' Orr, 1891-1981, and Roy Biggar, 1892-1951.
