Biographical history
Gilbert Morris Taylor was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on May 12, 1894. He studied photography in St. Paul and then began his career in Altin, BC in 1924. He stayed there until 1930 when he moved to Jasper and opened a photography shop. In 1936 he built his own studio and store with residence at #630 Connaught Dr. This business was sold to Tom Johnston in 1948. Morris Taylor was married to Helen (nee Hickley) and they had two sons; R. Loring and Marshall W. Morris Taylor died in 1967. G. Morris Taylor Photography Shop also produced a series of photographs credited to Mr. Johnston who bought out G. Morris Taylor's postcard business in 1948. The images include: Chief Sampson Beaver; Royal Canadian Mounted Police; YMCA Camp at Lake Edith; Miette Hot Springs Pool; snowmobile at the Columbia Icefield; Jasper Park Lodge and the tearoom at Mt Edith Cavell.

Series consists of 12 black and white 3x4.5 in. photographs of Jasper National Park "General Views" commercially produced and copyrighted by G. Morris Taylor (Photography Shop) of Jasper, Alberta in original souvenir envelope. Images include: Miette Hot Springs ca 1940 , Roche Miette, lake and forest views, totem pole, mountain and townsite views, Maligne Canyon ca 1940, Athabasca Falls, Maligne Lake, Mount Robson, Mount Edith Cavell, The Ramparts.
