Biographical history
James Mitchell, 1875-1942, was born in Kippen, Stirlingshire, Scotland and came to Canada with his family in 1883. After two years in Regina they moved to Medicine Hat. He later established a large ranch nearby and also operated a feedlot in the city. He was president of the Western Stock Growers in the 1930s. He and his wife, Helenora J. Hargrave, ?-1970, had three children, Hargrave, Helen and Nora (Gunter).
