Biographical history

Jack Crossley, 1925-2016, was born in Calgary, Alberta. The family lived in the Parkhill (now Erlton) district. Jack attended Parkhill School and Western Canada High School. Jack was a self-taught amateur photographer who began taking pictures in 1955. He was a charter member of the Calgary Colour Photo Club which was affiliated with the Foothills Camera Club. He taught basic photography courses throught the Continuing Education Department of the Calgary Public School Board. For many years Jack worked for Standen's Limited, retiring in 1990.

The fonds consists of slides of various districts and other Calgary scenes, parks, museums and events; Calgary Exhibition and Stampede; Calgary Zoo; and Heritage Park. Also includes newsletters and circulars of the Calgary Colour Photo Club (1953-1974).
