Biographical history

Jack Goth, 1923-2006, was born in Bolton, Lancashire, England. In 1941 he joined the Royal Air Force and two years later trained under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan at Gimli, Manitoba. He met his wife Peggy, 1921-2017, during this time and they were married in England in 1949. In 1950 they moved to Calgary, Alberta and Jack joined Shell Oil. From 1978 to 1990 he worked with Panarctic.

Throughout his life Jack was a musician, director, writer and performer and was involved with Musical Theatre of Calgary, Calgary Theatre Singers, and Workshop Theatre. He was a founder and director of ACTRA and was a director of the Alberta Foundation for Performing Arts. Between 1969 and 1982 Jack created, wrote, directed and emceed a popular touring pub show called "Ye Old Bull and Bush". He did the same for the "Frosty Show", which was the Calgary Hudson's Bay Company's Christmas show. He also wrote and directed many convention shows for groups such as the Junior League, Calgary Kinsmen and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen.

Peggy Goth was involved in the organization and administration of all of the theatrical productions done by her husband thoughout their lives and was the branch representative for ACTRA in Calgary for over twenty years. The Goths had four children, Richard, Bob, Randy, 1957-2010, and Jacquie.
