Biographical history
Ivy I. Snoad, 1913-1984, was born in Coleman, Alberta. The family subsequently moved to Blairmore. In the late 1920s, at the age of 15 or 16, Ivy dropped out of school and sold Avon products door to door to help support her family. In 1939 her sister, Mabel, began to sell Christmas cards door to door. Ivy took over this business when her sister entered nursing school, and continued until she moved to Calgary ca. 1944. In 1946 she began to sell Spirella corsets door to door in the Hillhurst area of Calgary. She continued to sell through the 1950s and possibly later. She married H. Mack in the early 1970s.
