Biographical history

Canadian artist, caricaturist and author. I. Bickerstaff, pseudonym for Don Evans, born in Toronto, Ontario. Graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and University of Western Ontario. Career includes work as an editor, author, artist and manager. Published works include Mariposa forever, Friends, hosers & countrymen and What's the difference? Resides in Orillia, Ontario, where he was elected as alderman in 1991.

Archival history

Acquired in several accessions between 1980 and 2013. Accessions 583/95.21 and 607/97.6 donated by D. Evans through the University of Calgary Foundation.

Fonds consists of sketches and caricatures of Canadian authors, poets, playwrights, composers, architects and publishers, including winners of the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour from 1947 to 2012; and manuscripts, drawings and published text of Mariposa forever.
