History
Harry Irving, 1927-2006, was born in Calgary, Alberta, the son of F.L. Irving, who founded Riverside Iron Works. He received a BA in economics from McGill University and in 1977 was granted an MA in resource studies from the University of Calgary. In 1954 he and his brother, Don, founded Irving Wire Products Ltd. to produce wire mesh and later, welded wire fabric. In 1959 they acquired Foothills Steel Foundry. Harry manages the wire division and Don manages the foundry division of the joint company, called Irving Industries. They are also involved in the petroleum industry through their company, Irvco Resources Ltd. Harry was married to Joan Arnold, ?-1970, and Sheila; he had six children, Sandy, Jill (Wiesinger), Sally (Benner), Polly (Erb), Julie and Fred, ?-1986.
