Biographical history
Irmingard Bechtle was born in Stuttgart, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1961 where she first worked in Midland, Ontario. In 1963 she took a job as a housekeeper at the Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Alberta. She then studied at the University of Manitoba and University of Toronto. Bechtle had a career as a reporter, translator, and photographer for German-language papers in Canada and Germany.
