Biographical history
Interprovincial Pipe Line (NW) Ltd. was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Interprovincial Pipe Line Company. The latter was incorporated in 1949 to build a pipeline from Edmonton to Ontario, to transport the crude oil discovered at Leduc, Alberta in 1947. IPL(NW) was established in 1981 to build an 864 km (540 mi) pipeline from Norman Wells, NWT to Zama in northern Alberta. The pipeline was built from 1983 to 1985, with all the pipe being laid during the winters of 1984 and 1985. In 1986 Interprovincial Pipe Line Company acquired Home Oil and changed its name to Interhome Energy Ltd.
