Biographical history
Peter L. Hyde established Hyde Gas and Oil Company in Calgary, Alberta in 1934. In 1938 the company was incorporated as Hydro-Pete Oils Ltd. It owned its own refinery and two distributing stations, and sold nearly half a million gallons of petroleum products in 1939. The company was absorbed by Consolidated Refineries Ltd. of Regina in 1939.

This fonds was found by Mr. R.M. McInnes, a City of Calgary employee, in the vault of the Maclean Block, 109-8th Ave. S.E., Calgary, before the building was demolished in 1972. P.L. Hyde's office was at 608 Maclean Block.
