History
John "Jack" Hutton, 1883-1977, was born in Carnoustie, Scotland and trained as a civil engineer. He came to Canada in 1902 and two years later went to China as engineer on the Canton-Hankow railway. He later settled near Edmonton, Alberta and worked in the engineering department. In 1913 he married Mary Dixon, 1891-1972, and a few years later moved to Calgary, Alberta to work for Canadian National Railways. He then became a commercial traveller for R. W. Eamon company, a firm he subsequently purchased. In 1935-1936 Hutton became the golf pro at the Bowness Golf Club and later at the Shaganappi and the Calgary Municipal. In 1947 he purchased the Inglewood Golf and Country Club which he operated for ten years. Jack and Mary Hutton had two children, Gordon, 1914-1996, and Barbara (Alteman), 1918- .
