Biographical history
Howard C. Paillefer, 1918-2000, was born in Folkstone, England and his parents brought him to Canada in 1920. He grew up in Toronto, Ontario and served in the Second World War, finishing the conflict as a Captain. After the war Paillefer joined Trans-Canada Airlines (later Air Canada) and was posted to Cleveland, Ohio, USA and later Windsor, Ontario. In the latter city he served a term as an alderman. He was later posted to Vancouver, British Columbia and then to Calgary, Alberta in 1965 as district sales manager. After retirement in 1981 he worked for the Calgary Foundation before moving to Victoria, British Columbia. During his time in Calgary he served as president of the Calgary Tourist and Convention Association, president of the Calgary Stampeder Football Club, director of the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, University of Calgary senator, president of the Downtown Rotary Club and protocol chairman for the 1988 Winter Olympics. In 1941 he married Gerri, 1921-2009, and they had four children, Marcia E., Maralee, Marc and Michele.
