The Hotel Wales was built at 709-2nd Street SW, Calgary, Alberta in 1930 by R.C. Thomas, managing owner. The existing Thomas Apartment Hotel next door was incorporated into the structure. It opened its 210 room, 11 storey structure in 1931, as well as the Wales Coffee Shoppe on the main floor. The hotel was demolished in 1974 to make way for the Oxford Square complex.
