        History

The Herald Building, a ten-storey building, was constructed at 622-1st Street SW, Calgary, Alberta in 1913. The ground floor and part of the second floor housed the Calgary Herald Publishing Company. The other floors housed a wide variety of lawyers, dentists, physicians, insurance companies and stock brokers. William A. Sweet was the building superintendent from its opening until 1932. In 1932 the Herald moved to a new location at 206-7th Avenue SW, and the building was renamed the Southam Building. In 1949 it became the Greyhound Building. It was demolished in 1972.
