Biographical history
Hector Joseph Craig, 1910-1976, was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He received his law degree from the University of Manitoba in 1935, graduating at the top of his class. He practiced law in the Winnipeg firm of Craig, Tarr, Hughes and Macleod. During the Second World War he served in the navy, rising to deputy director of signals. He married Norma Alleyne Rice in 1943. From 1947 to 1964 he was secretary-manager of the Western Retail Lumbermen's Association. He moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1964 and took over Vincent Cooney's law practice. He later practiced with Crystal and Craig, 1967-1968, Craig and Mears, 1969, and Craig, Salmon, Low and Portigal, 1972-1976.
