      Hyman John Hazza, 1882-1960, was born into a Jewish family in Toronto and was a prominent figure in the horse racing and motion picture distribution businesses in Calgary, Alberta. He owned the Rocky Mountain Polo Pony Ranch in Springbank, Alberta, which raised racehorses and trained jockeys. He was Western Regional Manager for Famous Players Theatres and was involved in the construction of the Calgary Film Exchange Building. John retired to Phoenix, Arizona in the late 1930s.
