Biographical history
Hazel Mitton, 1894-[ca. 1984], was born in Ridgetown, Ontario. She first visited Alberta in 1903, when she and her mother spent two months in the Pincher Creek area with her uncle. She returned in 1907 to visit a brother who had homesteaded near Nanton. She attended Normal School in London, Ontario, and in 1917 taught in Alberta at Wilderman School between Blackie and Brant. In 1919 she married Arthur Thomson, ?-1948, and they had two children, Billy and Terry. The family farmed in the Nanton area. She moved to Calgary after her husband's death. In 1961 she married John Thompson Cuyler, 1876-1970.
