Biographical history
Harry M. Lewis was trained as an engineer and joined Sun Oil company in the 1960s. He was part of the team that worked with Bechtel Corporation on construction of the Great Canadian Oil Sands plant in Alberta beginning in 1963. In 1965 he moved to Fort McMurray as the owner's resident engineer overseeing construction, and in 1967 became Operations Manager. In 1970 he took up a new career as a stockbroker, but rejoined GCOS in Edmonton in 1976 as Director of Engineering. Lewis moved to Suncor in Calgary in 1980 and later retired as Manager of Long Range Planning for technology-related projects.
