Biographical history
Major Harry Chapman served with the 4th Canadian Field Ambulance during the First World War. He also served in the South African War and Second World War, and between the first and second world wars he served with the Calgary Highlanders as NPAM (non-permanent active militia) and the 17th Canadian Field Ambulance. He had at least one child, R.H. Chapman.

The fonds consists of a "Field Message Book", which includes laundry lists, training notes, section rolls, notes on gas training, and messages (1917); anti-gas course notebook while attending the Canadian Trench Warfare School (1917); correspondence concerning his desire to represent the Canadian Militia at the Coronation of King George VI (1936-1937); a notebook of miscellaneous account while serving with the militia (1925-1947); and souvenirs and photographs of the three wars in which he served.
