History
John Squire Hallett, 1887-[after 1977], was born Devon, England, and emigrated to Winnipeg in 1903 to be a farm hand. He homesteaded at Fleet, near Castor, Alberta in 1910. He married Helen Shearer, but she died of flu in 1918. He married Greta Bradshaw in 1923 and they had six children, Gilbert, Robert, Margaret (Curcio), Norma (Poohkay), Mary (Biggs), and Helen (Erickson). He was a member of the Coronation Livestock Cooperative Association for over forty years, and was also active in the Alberta Wheat Pool and on the Castor school board.
