Biographical history

The Glenbow Archives has collected a variety of share certificates over the years, especially ones related to natural resource companies in Alberta and western Canada. After the major gas and oil discovery in Turner Valley, Alberta in 1914, hundreds of companies intent on taking part in the oil boom were established and many of these often short-lived companies are represented in this collection.
