Biographical history

Glen William Peacock, 1898-1968, was born in London, Ontario, moved to Carmangay, Alberta in 1910 and Calgary in 1931. His father operated the F. L. Williams store in Carmangay. Glen was the proprietor of the Isis Theatre and Camera Shop in Calgary and retired in 1960.

He was very active in the Rotary Club, acting as secretary in 1944, president in 1950, district governor in 1954, director of Rotary International in 1958 and vice-president of Rotary International in 1959. He was also active in many other organizations including the Calgary Theatres Association, Toastmasters and the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. He married Aileen Gertrude Parkinson, 1901-1993.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of notes, speeches and correspondence regarding Rotary Club (1954-1960); photographs, postcards and slides of family, business and organizational activities; travel diaries and writings (1943-1952); notes regarding Mount Royal College Educational Club (1947-1948); and scrapbook. Includes minutes of organizational meeting of Alberta Women's Progressive Conservative Association (1949).
