Biographical history

Gervase Noel Edward Strong, 1890-1978, was born in Aldershot, England and came to Calgary, Alberta in 1913. He married Nellie Louise Troy, ?-1938, and they had three daughters, Audrey (Green), Thelma, and Shirtly (Dresen). He served signed up with the Canadian Expeditionary Force on September 23, 1914, and served overseas durng the First World War, including as lieutenant witht the Sherwood Foresters, as regiment of the British Army. He was an accountant in Calgary, 1919-1930, and operated his own business in Edmonton, 1930-1938. In 1939 he was appointed Recruiting Officer and ADC to Inspector General Griesbach, and in 1941 became Barrack Officer of No. 3 Manning Depot RCAF. He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs, 1944-1956.
