Biographical history
George Washington Craig, 1870-1942, was born in Mount Vernon, Virginia, USA, and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1892 he married Margaret B. McKay, and they had three children, Kenneth, Wallace and Margaret. A civil engineer, he worked for the Omaha City Engineers Department for 20 years. From 1913 to 1923 he was City Engineer for Calgary, Alberta, and was responsible for the construction of Centre Street Bridge, street railway maintenance and other civic projects. He was president of the Canada Crude Oil Company which held oil leases near De Winton. In 1923 he returned to the USA.
