Biografie
George Edward Van Buskirk, 1863-1936, from Halifax, Nova Scotia, travelled to Alberta in 1884, seeking employment as a ranch hand. He found work in the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) construction camps as a clerk for the labour contractors Gormley & Bell. He returned to Nova Scotia and apparently lived there for the rest of his life.

The fonds consists of two letters from George Van Buskirk to his mother, describing his search for employment and his experiences in the CPR construction camps of the Kicking Horse Pass; and three photographs of him later in life. Also includes a receipt (1904) issued to George G. Hamilton for his contribution to the Red Deer Lake Hall.
