Biographical history

George Tomfohr, 1888-1960, was born in Red Wing, Minnesota, USA. He moved to Milk River, Alberta in 1908 and farmed three miles east of the town. In 1921 he married Adele Wilhelmina Kiesow, ?-1977, and they had one son, Henry George. He established the Henry George Iron Works and Machine Shop in 1919. In 1941 he sold the business and returned to the USA, first to Minnesota then to Montana. He was an avid student of the Single Tax theory as advocated by American political economist, Henry George, after whom he named his son and business.
