Biographical history
George Hobson, 1923-2015, was educated as a petroleum geophysicist and first worked for Heiland Exploration. He then joined the federal department of Energy Mines and Resources. He served as Director of the Polar Continental Shelf Project from 1972 to 1988. He was a friend of Thomas Harold "Chief" Edwards, a Calgary geophysicist and cartoonist.

Scope and content
The collection consists of copies of cartoons of geophysical activities drawn by Chief Edwards. The cartoons were published in a postcard series by Seismic Service Supply Ltd. about 1955 but the originals seem to have disappeared. Hobson made his copies from Edwards originals that were loaned to him.
