Administrative history
The Genes and Development Research Group (GDRG) was established in the Faculty of Medicine prior to 1980. In 2004, it joined with the Child Health Research Centre in forming the Institute of Maternal and Child Health within the Faculty of Medicine. In 2009, the Institute was renamed the Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute for Child and Maternal Health (later, simply the Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute). Subsequently, GDRG was renamed Genes Development and Health. In 2014, the Faculty of Medicine was renamed the Cumming School of Medicine.
