Joan Casket, 1935?- , was from Manchester, England. Her family was Jewish, and at the onset of the Second World War, decided to evacuate to Canada for their safety. Her mother Becky (Mrs. Phillip Casket) operated a small shop in downtown Calgary, Alberta, The Little Londoner. For much of the time Joan and her sister Della boarded with a farm family, the Cawleys, at Arrowwood, Alberta. They returned to England in 1944. Joan later married Hugh Freeman, and they had at least one child, Rachel. In 2007 Joan was a university professor living in London.
