History
Peter Fidler, 1769-1822, was born in Bolsover, Derbyshire, England. He came to Canada, and in 1788 joined the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC). He became the company's chief mapmaker and surveyor in 1796. One of his many surveys was along the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, 1792-1793. He retired to the Red River Settlement.
