Fonds F2260 - Emil B. Johnson fonds

Emil B. Johnson, 1889-1971, was born in Sweden and in 1891 moved with his family to Manitoba. In his teens he worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), Grand Trunk Pacific, and Canadian Northern Railway (CNR). From 1913 to 1923 he lived in Hinton, Alberta and worked as a farmer, coal miner and hunting guide. He returned to railroading with the CNR and settled in Edmonton in 1926. From 1936 to 1939 he worked for the Alberta Department of Public Works, the operated a lumber mill at Embarras, Alberta until 1963. He was given an honorary membership in the Alberta Forest Products Association. He and his wife, Ellen, ?-1969, had seven children, Eldon, Ross, Darwin, Chester, Lyle, Vernon, and Muriel (Gilbertson).
