Einar T. Olsen of Cultus Lake,, British Columbia was accepted in the Royal Canadian Navy on July 20, 1949 and reported for training on the H.M.C.S. “Cornwallis” on August 3, 1949. On January 6, 1950, on board H.M.C.S. “Antigonish” , Einar passed the required examinations and was promoted to Able Seaman. During the Korean war Olsen likely served aboard H.M.C.S. “Ontario”.

Stuart Olsen was born August 29, 1957 in Vancouver, B.C.. In 1977, after high school, Olsen entered into the Canadian navy where he served briefly aboard HMCS Kootenay following his training at CFB Esquimalt. He died March 28, 2011 in Victoria, B.C..

Scope and content
Consists of textual and photographic material attesting to the naval careers of Einar Olsen and his son Stuart. Of particular note are original photographs related to Royal Canadian Navy deployment in Korean during the Korean War. Includes images of the ships that took part as well as action shots from land and sea.
Fonds is divided into three series: Correspondence, Photographs, Miscellaneous.
