        History

        David Eagleson, 1911-1995, was born in Glasgow, Scotland, of Irish parents. He moved to Calgary with them the same year. He joined the First Calgary Troop of the Boy Scouts in 1923 and was active in the scouting movement until the late 1930s. From 1936 to 1938 the First Calgary Troop sponsored boxing events for the Amateur Athletic Union of Canada, Alberta Branch. From 1929 to 1937 he was employed by North Star Oil Ltd., and he subsequently worked for T.H. Peacock. He married Ethel Norton in 1940 and they had two children, Jim and Linda (Rodrigues). He worked for Marshall Wells, hardware wholesalers, from 1942 to 1961. He then worked as a house builder and mortgage agent until joining White Knight Cleaners as an accountant in the mid-1960s. He retired in 1981.
