Biographical history
Ernest W. Coffin, 1875-1963, was born in Prince Edward Island. He obtained his BA from Dalhousie University and PhD from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts before moving to Calgary, Alberta in 1909. He was vice-principal of the Calgary Normal School until 1911 when he became principal. He held this position until his retirement in 1940. He specialized in psychology and school administration and was a popular guest lecturer at summer schools throughout Canada. He and his wife, Susie, ?-1970, had two children, Edwin and Mrs. Harold R. Tilley. In 1967 a Calgary elementary school was named after Dr. Coffin.
