History
Captain James Durham Dundas, 1842-1879, was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. As a young man he joined the British Army and in 1865 received the Victoria Cross for his service in the Bhutan War with the Benghal Engineers. He served with the 60th Rifles during the 1870 Red River Expedition, which was sent to Manitoba to quell the 1869-1870 Riel Rebellion.
