Biographical history
Dr. R. Wayne Elford began at the University of Calgary in 1970 as a part-time lecturer with the Division of Family Practice (later the Department of Family Medicine) in the Faculty of Medicine. He became Assistant Professor in 1975 and Associate Professor in 1978 in this Division. In 1994 he became a Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, a position he held until his retirement in 1997 at which time he became Professor Emeritus of Family Medicine. During his time at the university, Dr. Elford was involved with the Alberta Primary Care Research Unit. He has also worked with CUPS Community Health Centre (a charitable clinic for the homeless and marginalized in downtown Calgary) and as Executive Director of the Evangelical Medical Aid Society (EMAS).
