Biographical history
Douglas Robert Thompson, 1926-2013, was born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta and earned a diploma in surveying from Mount Royal College. In the 1950s he surveyed for the geophysical industry throughout Alberta. He later moved into real estate and helped build several office buildings in Calgary. Thompson was a member of the Glencoe Club (president 1976-1979), Upland Birds of Alberta, the Shriners, the Rotary Club and was a scout leader. He and his wife Betty, 1928-2006, were married in 1950 and had five children, Barbara (Mitchell), Susan (Piercy), John, Rodger, and Bob.
