Biographical history
Douglas C. Thornton, ?-1998, was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and moved to Alberta at a young age. He was educated as a teacher and taught at Coaldale, Rowley and Red Willow Alberta. Thornton joined the United Farmers of Alberta Cooperative as educational director in 1941 and worked there for over twenty years. He was active in the Men's Canadian Club of Calgary including a term as president in 1962. He was also a member of the Calgary Current Events Club. He married Mona Priestley, 1913-2004. They had two children, Harold and Lynne (Hamshaw).
