Biographical history

During the Second World War Doug N. Grant enlisted in the RCAF in Winnipeg and served as an airman in England, France, Belgium and Holland. He returned to Winnipeg and was discharged in 1945. In 1946 he entered United College in Winnipeg and received his BA in 1950. He graduated from law school in 1953. He and his wife, Maud, moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1957 where he was a landman for California Standard until 1964. He was commissioned in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in 1961 and served until 1969 in Calgary. In 1965 he began working as a lawyer for Chevron Standard Co., a position he held until ca. 1978. In 1971 he married his second wife, Ursula. He lived in Bragg Creek from 1974 to 1978.

The fonds consists of military diary (1944), personal notebook, and military exercise outlines (Calgary) (1959-1966). Includes notebook of RCAF orders (ca. 1942) and military aviation training notebook belonging to Flight Lieutenant H.A. Webster, RCAF, London, England.
