History
Jacques de Foras, 1898-1980, was born in France and came with his parents Count Barle de Foras and the Countess de Foras to High River, Alberta in 1907. He operated a ranch, and was also active as a polo player on the local team for many years. A self-taught geologist, Jacques did a great deal of prospecting for petroleum and minerals in southern Alberta and British Columbia. He also operated a water-well drilling company and did some oilwell drilling in Turner Valley. He and his wife Marian had one son, Peter.
