        History

        Carl U. Daniels, 1894-1969, was born at Kellerton, Iowa, USA and began his career with Gulf Pipeline Company in 1912. After brief service in the USA Army, 1917-1918, he returned to the oil industry to help build a pipeline in Texas and Oklahoma. He came to Calgary in 1949 as president of Albercan Oil Corporation and the next year joined Royalite Oil as president. He was chairman of the board of the Canadian Petroleum Association in 1953, a director until 1962 and vice-chairman of the Alberta division in 1955. He played a leading role in the growth of the Calgary Petroleum Club. He and his wife, Olive, ?-1965, had four children, Alice (Hunt), 1923-2006, Jean (Poe), Virginia Ann (Richards) and C.U. Daniels, Jr.
