D.M. Ratcliffe, ?-[before 1940], established the Ratcliffe Creamery on Big Hill Creek, north of Cochrane, Alberta in the early 1890s. Some years later he sold the facility to Mr. Brealey and moved to Red Deer.

The photographs were given by Mrs. Stuart (daughter of D.M. Ratcliffe) to C.P. Marker of Markerville in the 1930's. In 1940 they were given to Jim Flan of Calgary.
