System of arrangement

Correspondence relating to poetry (with the exception of a general file, 1962-1966) was filed with the individual items. Since these letters are instrumental in dating some materials, and since removal to the Correspondence series would destroy the integrity of the file, they are to be found in the Manuscript Series - Poetry. A like arrangement prevails with respect to correspondence accompanying short stories.
