Thomas John Cornwall, 1872-?, was born in Brantford, Ontario and apprenticed as a machinist. In 1903 he went to Edmonton, Alberta and purchased the Brewster Foundry, renaming it the Edmonton Machine Shop (later Edmonton Iron Works). The company primarily manufactured farm machinery. He and his wife had one daughter, Edna (Shore). Thomas was the brother of James Kennedy Cornwall (Peace River Jim).
